August 2017

What a month, what a summer, what a collection of moments, memories and experiences all strung together inside of period of minutes hours and days.

Naturally we stayed moving at a break neck speed enjoying and experiencing as much as we possibly could. I do love that i love that were always on an adventure always moving forward, always experiencing new things and finding comfort in old routines. Meeting new people, going new places but still spending time in our place with our people; the place we feel the most comfortable and everything feels right.

Its in one of those rare lulls, a brief pause at home that I had a chance to really reflect on the month, and to be honest life and how the kids are growing up so fast. We spent about 4 days down at Lake Anna It was the same lake house we stayed at 3 years ago when Maddie was 4 and Evan just a few months old. We had a blast jumping in the lake, swimming around, coming out just long enough to dry off and get a snack in our bellies before we ran back in. Followed by smores by the fire and a late night family movie. My mind would kind of overlay pictures I remembered from the last trip we had down there over current day, pretty bittersweet to see how much both of them have grown and frankly all of us. Something enjoyable about remembering when we were a brand new family, still finding out way all together, messing and melding as one. Honestly i still feel like we are to a lesser degree and suppose we always will be; because people are always changing based on the experiences they string together, their frame of reference. Evan and Maddie are our age, and there are grand kids :) Thankfully that's a long way away, though these kiddos are growing like weeds and time seems to be on fast forward.

Super Evan is closer to 4 now than he is 3....when did that happen! the kid is out of diapers. Which you would think is only sweet no bitter after taste at all; but man I miss him asking for Dad to change him lol for PJ time after bath where our little man put on a diaper instead of big boy Ninja Turtle unders. His vocabulary is pretty extensive and i really love when we say something like "Evan you are a silly kid"  and he say "No, I am a Mart kid"  I love that confidence and sense of self.
